The Corporation of the Township of Val Rita-Harty is working towards becoming a fully accessible municipality and offering accessible services and programs by removing and preventing barriers that could hold back any member of the public from participating in community life.
The Township is committed to and will continue to making its services and infrastructure accessible to people of all abilities. Val Rita-Harty strives to ensure integration, independence, dignity, and equal opportunity for all of our community members.
The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (A.O.D.A) was enacted in 2005 with the goal of making Ontario Accessible by 2025. The A.O.D.A. consists of five standards which guide employment, information and communication, transportation and the design of public spaces.
In accordance with these AODA standards, the Township of Val Rita-Harty has developed an Accessibility Plan to help identify and prevent barriers for persons with a handicap using municipal services or establishments.
